Corinthia Palace sits in the quiet heart of the island at Attard, right beside the historic San Anton Gardens and the Presidential Palace. It is the Corinthia brand's original hotel, built around a converted 19th-century villa, and it feels like a proper grande dame: palatial lobby, formal service, lush gardens and around 144 spacious rooms and suites, all with a private balcony. Because it is so central, it makes an easy base for exploring the whole of Malta, with Valletta, Mdina and Marsaxlokk all a short drive away, and a complimentary shuttle down to Golden Bay for beach days.
For families there is a lot to like. There are family rooms, connecting rooms and free cots, babysitting can be arranged for a fee, and children generally stay free when using existing bedding. There are indoor and outdoor pools, a full spa, tennis and a fitness centre, plus several restaurants including the Michelin-starred Bahia. One thing worth planning around: children's access to the indoor pool is limited to a morning window, so it is worth checking current pool times before you book if little ones want a swim.
This is a five-star stay at a five-star price, so it suits couples wanting somewhere calm and refined, and families who want space, gardens and grown-up comfort rather than a big all-inclusive resort scene. Parking and Wi-Fi are free, and the setting is peaceful and green.
