This is a full-day adventure run by Gozo Pride Tours that takes you from your Malta hotel over to Gozo by powerboat, then out across the island on a quad bike in a guided convoy. Over roughly six to eight hours you cover a lot of ground, taking in spots like the Qala Belvedere, Ramla Valley, the salt pans, Ghasri Valley and the Inland Sea at Dwejra, usually with a swimming stop in summer and a three-course lunch included. The trip finishes with a scenic boat ride back to Malta via the Blue Lagoon and Comino caves.

It is very much a grown-up experience rather than a family day out. Anyone driving a quad must be over 21 with a full, current driving licence, and the tour is not suitable for pregnant women or people with back problems. Baby strollers and large bags are not allowed, so it does not lend itself to bringing little ones along.

If you are a couple or a group of adults after an active, hands-on way to see Gozo in a single day, this is a good fit. Book ahead, wear comfortable clothes and proper footwear, and bring swimwear, a towel and sunscreen for the summer swim stop.
