Country Terrace sits on Zewwieqa Street in Mgarr, in the Ghajnsielem area at the south-eastern tip of Gozo, just a short drive up from the ferry harbour. It began life as a farmhouse and has been turned into a restaurant known above all for its enormous terrace, which looks out over Mgarr Harbour, Fort Chambray and across the channel to Comino and Malta. You can sit outside on the terrace or inside in a more relaxed dining room, and the kitchen focuses on Italian, Maltese and wider Mediterranean cooking with a decent wine list.
It is a popular spot for special occasions and larger family gatherings, and it also caters for weddings and events. Prices sit a little above the Gozo average, so it feels more like a treat than an everyday bite, but reviewers consistently rate the food and service highly. Because of its reputation and the view, tables can fill up, so it is worth booking ahead, especially for dinner or a table on the terrace.
Opening hours are generally around midday to 2:30pm for lunch and 6pm to 10pm for dinner, Tuesday to Sunday, with Mondays usually closed. Street parking is available nearby and the terrace is pet friendly. For families it works well for a relaxed meal with a view, though we would confirm high chairs or a children's menu directly when you book if that matters to you.
