This is a full-day guided buggy adventure run by Gozo Pride Tours. It starts with hotel pickup in Malta and a boat transfer across to Gozo, where you get a safety briefing and gear before setting off in convoy behind the guides. You spend the bulk of the day driving Gozo's cliffs, valleys and village lanes, with photo stops, a three-course lunch and, in summer, a swim in the sea. On the way back to Malta the boat passes the Comino caves and Blue Lagoon for a photo stop.
It suits couples, groups of friends and families who like a bit of adrenaline and want to see a lot of Gozo in one go. The important catch is that anyone driving a buggy must be over 21 with a full, current driving licence, so it works best for adults, with older children coming along as passengers. It is not suitable for pregnant women or anyone with back problems, and pushchairs are not allowed on the tour.
A few practical things to know: the Gozo part of the day runs roughly 10:30 to 16:30, with return to your Malta hotel around 17:30, so it is a long day out. You are exposed to the sun for most of it, so hats, factor 50 and water are worth packing, along with swimwear, a towel and comfortable shoes.
